Krista & Anthony in Las Vegas, NV

Krista & Anthony in Las Vegas, NV
Photos By: Jonathan Canlas Photography
Location: The bride’s parent's home, Las Vegas, NV
Krista wore a 1930s-inspired gown she designed and had custom-made using silk dupioni and lace. “My dress could not have been any more perfect!” she says. Anthony wore a chocolate-brown, European-style suit with a chartreuse tie. “It was more of a casual and simple suit, just like we wanted,” the bride says.
Krista and Anthony were married in an intimate ceremony at the Latter-day Saints Temple in Las Vegas.
“I decided that I had too many friends and family to choose from so I ended up having no bridesmaids,” Krista says. She and Anthony did, however, have ring bearers and flower girls in abundance!
“The theme of the wedding was more important to me than the specific colors,” Krista says. “I did a modern-vintage combination. The wedding was very romantic.” Urns, filled with cherry blossom branches and hanging agapanthus, greeted guests as they arrived for the reception.
“I love backyard weddings so there was no problem figuring out where to have it -- my parents’ backyard!” Krista says. The yard was aglow after dark with candles everywhere, as well as Chinese lanterns strung across the entire yard.
The couple was their own DJ. “Anthony and I created a collaboration of mellow music that we both loved and thought that guests would enjoy as well, which was played from the outdoor speakers in the yard,” Krista explains.
Floral arrangements varied throughout the house, yard, and pool. The centerpieces on the reception tables were coral, green, or white tulips in round glass vases.
“A very simple, classic design,” Krista says of the three-tiered wedding cake, which was covered in white fondant and adorned with white fondant flowers.
During the buffet-style dinner, Krista and Anthony had a chocolate bar which featured chocolate fountains and all sorts of foods for dipping. Later, guests could help themselves to a candy bar, where they filled bags of candies in the wedding colors. “It was the biggest hit!” Krista says.
Anthony was a friend of a friend of Krista, but she knew him well enough to ask to borrow the perfect prop for her Halloween costume. She planned to head to a party as Elle Woods from the movie Legally Blonde, and so she asked to borrow his Chihuahua, Lupe, to play the role of Bruiser. “He said yes, and while I was growing closer to his dog, he just happened to come along with her!” Krista says.

For Anthony’s proposal, the couple returned to the site of their first date, on the beach in Huntington Beach, California. Anthony tied the ring to Lupe and had her run up the beach to Krista. “I thought he was playing a joke on me until he asked me to marry him,” Krista remembers. “I was totally surprised!” The couple planned their wedding in the bride’s hometown of Las Vegas in just three months.
